Doha Film Institute presents Qumra, an initiative that seeks to provide mentorship, nurturing, and hands-on development for filmmakers from Qatar and around the world.

Over the past six years, Qumra has been a one-of-a-kind professional incubator crucial to the success of filmmakers from the Arab world and beyond. The programme is designed to provide creative and professional support to Directors and Producers attached to thirty features, six series and twelve short film projects (fiction and documentary) in development or post-production stages.

They include a number of emerging filmmakers from Qatar, as well as regional and international recipients from the Institute’s funding programmes.

Qumra 2021’s Festival Scope Pro Platform gives you access to:

  • Information, previous works and introduction videos from the filmmakers of the 48 selected projects
  • The Industry Screenings: closed online previews for 15 feature-length and 9 short films (documentary and narrative) in the final stages of post-production available March 12-17 exclusively for select festival representatives, sales agents, distributors, broadcasters, post-production funds and VoD platforms
  • Qumra Screenings of feature and shorts projects funded by the Institute through its training and grants programmes accompanied by pre-recorded Q&A sessions. Available March 12–17.
