Born in 1966, he lives and works in Yekaterinburg, Russia. He graduated from the Ural Polytechnic Institute's faculty of economics in 1988 and from the All-Russia State Institute of Cinematography, faculty of screenwriting, in 2000. Since 1990 he has been working at the Sverdlovsk film studio as a director of documentary films, scriptwriter, feature film director and producer. In 2005 he started working for the film company “February, 29th” as a director and producer. His film FIRST PEOPLE ON THE MOON won in Venice Horizons Documentary Award, and SILENT SOULS received the FIPRESCI Prize, Nazareno Taddei Award and SIGNIS Award – Honorable Mention. His most recent film ANNA'S WAR world premiered at IFF Rotterdam 2018 and will screen at Munich IFF 2018.
