Biography

Born in 1970 in Mexico City, he studied in Amsterdam at Gerrit Rietveld Academie, and at Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (1992-1997).

His work uses different media like drawing, animation, installation, performance, digital graphic, video and painting. He is also co-founder of Nuevos Ricos, a discographic project.

Some of his solo exhibitions are: Germinal, Rufino Tamayo Museum, Mexico City (2013); La Langue des Morts, Yvon Lambert Gallery, Paris, France (2012); Carlos Amorales Remix, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome, Italy, 2010); Four Animations, Five Drawings and a Plague, Philadelphia Art Museum, (2008); New perspectives in Latin American Art, MoMA, New York (2007); Amorales vs. Amorales, Challenge 2003, Tate Modern, London (2003). He has also been part of various biennials such as Manifesta 9, Belgium (2012), La Habana (2009), Performa (New York, 2007); Berlin (2001) and Venice (2003).

His work is part of important collections as Jumex (Mexico), Tate Modern (London), The Museum of Modern Art (New York), Daros Latinamerica (Zurich), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis) and Museum Boijmaans van Beunigen (Rotterdam) among others.
