Biography

Born in Indonesia in 1983, Yosep Anggi Noen studied Politics and Communication at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. He received a fellowship from the Asian Film Academy (AFA) at the 2007 Busan IFF, and trained at the 2013 Berlin IFF Talents Campus. He directed many short films including IT’S NOT RAINING OUTSIDE (2009), selected at the IFF Rotterdam, and WINDLESS RHAPSODY (2010) which was part of the documentary WORKING GIRLS. His first feature film PECULIAR VACATION AND OTHER ILLNESSES (2012), competed at the FF Locarno, and received Special Mention for the Dragons & Tigers Award for Young Cinema at the 2012 Vancouver IFF. Anggi has received both the National Award for Best New Director and the award for Best Independent Film from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. His short film A LADY CADDY WHO NEVER SAW A HOLE IN ONE (2013), won the Sonje Award for Best Short Film at the 2013 Busan IFF, and Grand Prix at the 2014 Short Shorts FF & Asia. His latest film is SOLO, SOLITUDE (2016), was selected to premiere at FF Locarno (Filmmakers of the Present).
