Brazil

MEDUSA is a horror-musical-comedy set in an alternate universe yet inspired by the conservative rise we experienced in Brazil and its effects on the youth. My desire is to bring laughter, tension, joy and a bit of lust to the audience. I want people to free themselves from the control others and society have on them, even if only for a few seconds, and scream.

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Anita Rocha da Silveira has written and directed three short-films: THE NOON VAMPIRE (2008), HANDBALL (2010), FIPRESCI Award at the Int. Short FF Oberhausen, and THE LIVING DEAD (2012), Quinzaine des Réalisateurs. Her first feature KILL ME PLEASE (2015) was screened at the Orizzonti section at Venice IFF, New Directors/New Films and SXSW, among others. MEDUSA (2021) is her second feature and premiered last July at Cannes Quinzaine des Réalisateurs and won Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress at Rio IFF.
