Born 1962 in Braunschweig, Germany. After completing German Cultural Studies and various film internships, enrollment from 1986-1992 at the DFFB (German Film and TV Academy) Berlin. Since 1992 worked as screenwriter and director. Thomas Arslan’s debut was at the Berlinale (Panorama) in 1994, with MACH DIE MUSIK LEISER, followed by GESCHWISTER (2006, Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis) and DEALER (1999, Forum, Berlinale) which won the International Film Critics’ Prize as well as the Prize of the International Ecumenical Jury. Thomas Arslan has been a member of the faculty at the UdK (University of Art, Berlin) as a professor for narrative film.
