Biography

Danilo Bećković was born in 1981. He graduated Film and TV directing from Belgrade Faculty of Dramatic Arts, as well as Comparative Literature from Belgrade Faculty of Philology. Bećković's first feature film LITTLE BUDDHO (a Serbian-Swiss-Slovenian coproduction) premiered in 2014 to great reviews and huge commercial success, becoming an instant cult classic and one of the greatest Serbian hits of the decade, eventually taking 10% of Serbian market in that year. In 2016 it was followed by another smash hit, THE SAMURAI IN AUTUMN (a Serbian-Austrian-Bulgarian co-production), the first Serbian martial arts film in history, with theatrical distribution in all countries of former Yugoslavia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The rights are also sold for USA and China. In 2016 and 2017 Danilo was a member of the jury for Film Centre Serbia competition for the funding of feature films. In 2017 he was a jury member for Cottbus FF and Valletta FF. Short film THE LITTLE ONE (a Serbian-North Macedonian co-production), premiered at the Belgrade International Film Festival and has its international premiere in the official competition selection of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in June 2019.
