Biography

Martín Benchimol was born in Buenos Aires in 1985. He graduated from the degree of Image and Sound Design of the University of Buenos Aires (U.B.A.). He increased his knowledge on photography in the C. C. Rojas and on actors direction in workshops in the CEFOPRO (ENERC) with Eloisa Tarruela and María Alché. He teaches in the professorship of Photography Direction of the Image and Sound Design career. During 2008, his short film ÒGA was exhibit in different non-commercial spaces in Argentina and other countries. In 2009, his short film “Todos despiertos” competed in the Festival of Tandil. THE RIVER PEOPLE is the first feature length film he directed, finished in 2012. This proyect participated in the Doculab.4 Guadalajara 2012 in the context of the 27th FICG. Then, the film received the support of the Argentinean Cinema Institute (INCAA) and was premiered at DOK Leipzig 2012. His most recent documentary THE DREAD co-directed with Pablo Aparo screened at Sheffield DocFest 2018.
