Biography

He began his directing career through a number of shorts, beginning with OH! MY GOODNESS in 2007. He followed that with IN MY HEAD in 2008 and 2010’s MANITO. In 2013, he made the leap to feature filmmaking with NEVERDIE BUTTERFLY (2013), which was invited to screen in the New Perspective of Korean Films lineup of the Gwangju International Film Festival. The film, which starred SHIN Jae-seung, KIM Tae-yoon and PARK Yeon-ju and follows the romantic tribulations of young men and women in summer, was granted a theatrical release in October of that year. Two years later, JANG returned with his sophomore feature, the indie drama KISSING COUSIN (2015), which was invited to the main competition section of the Seoul Independent Film Festival that year. Chang earned the Passionate Staff Member Prize at SIFF. The film, which deals with a young man who deals with his feelings for his cousin (Played by BAE So-eun of KARAOKE CRAZIES), despite having a girlfriend, after he is discharged from the military, went on nationwide release in May 2016. ABYSS: THE GIRL'S EYE (2018) is his latest film which screened at BIFAN 2019.
