Biography

Phil Collins is a British-born visual artist, cultural organiser and educator based in Berlin. Nominated for the Turner Prize in 2006, the Artes Mundi Art Prize in 2012 and a recipient of the Paul Hamlyn Award in 2001, Collins’ work has been recognised for its engagement with social reality and lived experience and presented in museums, galleries and at film festivals around the world. Collins is represented in many public collections in Europe and the US, including Tate Gallery, London; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Guggenheim Museum, New York and National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa. His 2010 short film MARXISM TODAY (PROLOGUE) was awarded the 3sat-Förderpreis at the 57th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and was broadcast on German national television.
