Biography

Kristof Hoornaert(b. 1980, West-Flanders, Belgium) studied Audiovisual Arts in Ghent and Brussels. In 2006 he started working as a freelance director on several corporate films, publicity and commercials for various companies.In 2009, his first short film KAIN premiered in the official competition of the Berlinale, where it got nominated for the Golden Bear. In 2012, he edited the short film NUCLEAR WASTE by Ukrainian filmmaker Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy (The Tribe), which premiered in the official competition of the Locarno FF, where it won the Silver Leopard. The film got also nominated for the European Film Award 2013. In 2015, his third short film EMPIRE premiered in the world competition of the Montreal FF and got in the official selection of the London FF and Gent FF. Furthermore the film was selected in film festivals in Tallinn, Vilnius, Busan, Thessaloniki, Tokyo, Helsinki etc. RESURRECTION is his first full-length feature.
