Biography

Krzysztof Kopczyński is an Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw (Rhetoric and Media Section, Institute of Applied Polish Studies). From 1995, he is also a documentary film producer working at the international market, the owner and CEO of the Eureka Media Production Company. He is also a member of the European Film Academy and the Polish Film Academy. And an authorized optimist. During 20 years, he produced for Eureka Media Production Company over 150 audiovisual works, including 50 documentaries which have been shown in 70 countries at least and won about 130 festival awards. He was responsible for development, production, financing, as well as distribution of the films. During years 2006-2011 he was an expert working for the Polish Film Institute. Since 2011 he is an expert in the Mazovian Regional Film Fund. STONE SILENCE (2007), his directorial documentary debut, won multiple awards and was officially selected for more than 90 festival screenings in 39 countries. He is the winner of 14 film awards, including Locarno Critic’s Week Award in 2008, Best Polish Film Producer Award at the Krakow Film Festival in 2006 and 2007. He published 4 books and several dozen articles about literature, media and film. He participated in several dozen conferences, workshops and Q&As in 20 countries. He was a member of the jury at the festivals in Batumi, Chicago, Kiev, Leipzig, Łódź, Warsaw, and Wrocław. In 2012 he received the Order of the Rebirth of Poland.
