Biography

Jean-François Lesage lived in China for six years where the courage of the independent filmmakers he met (Wang Bing, Zhao Liang and Yang Lina) inspired him to make his first creative documentary, SWEET NIGHTS SOUR NIGHTS. Since returning to Montreal, he has made A MILE END TALES, the closing film at Visons du Réel in 2014, and A SUMMER LOVE, Grand Prize for Best Canadian Feature at RIDM in 2015. THE HIDDEN RIVER is his fourth documentary feature.
