Biography

Born in Paris in France in 1968, he studied art history there between 1987 and 1993 whilst also working as assistant to photographer Suzanne Lafont and curator Bernard Blistène. He made his first short film in 1994 and enjoyed his first festival success with LES CORPS OUVERTS in 1998. His debut feature film, the coming-out drama PRESQUE RIEN, became an international hit in 2000. WILD SIDE screened in the Panorama and won a Teddy in 2004 and PLEIN SUD screened in the Panorama in 2010. His documentary LES INVISIBLES screened at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2012. In 2016, his documentary THE LIVES OF THERESE screened as part of the Director's Fortnight in Cannes and won the Queer Palm.
