Biography

Marcin Malaszczak was born in Kowary, Poland in 1985. He grew up in former West Berlin where his parents emigrated after his birth. He studied directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB). Following his short film DER SCHWIMMER (2010), SIENIAWKA is his feature debut. It won the First Film Prize at the 2013 Festival International du Documentaire de Marseille and the ARTE Documentary Film Prize at the Duisburger Filmwoche. In 2013, he also made the short film ORBITALNA which premiered at the 64rd Berlinale (Forum Expanded) 2014. His second full-length feature film THE DAYS RUN AWAY LIKE WILD HORSES OVER THE HILLS (2015) had its World Premiere at the 65th Berlinale (Forum). Marcin currently lives and works in Berlin.
