Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, Marina Stepanska graduated from the Karpenko-Kary National University of Film, Theatre and Television (Film Department, specialty: director, under V. Popkov and I. Fabish). Marina worked at the experimental theatre School, where she studied the methodology of working with non-actors. She completed the 6-month ARCHIDOC program for documentary filmmakers at the French national film school La FEMIS, and studied the theory and practice of editing at the apprenticeship with editor Valdis Oskarsdottir (Iceland). She made a few short films as well. Her scripted feature debut FALLING (2017) received several awards at international film festivals and 3 awards at the National Film Awards “Golden Dzyga” in 2018. Her latest short DESATURATED (2019) premiered at Odessa IFF.
