I feel fascinated by presenting the quotidien and everyday banalities, using humour as a tool to underline deeper issues in today´s society. Filmmaking has become an opportunity for me to understand “the other”, the wide and unpredictable spectrum of human behaviors, as well as myself.
Marta Hernaiz Pidal (Mexico, 1988) graduated with honors from Centro de Diseño Cine y Televisión with the short film POLLITO CHICKEN, GALLINA HEN which was successful in Mexican and Latin American film festivals in 2012. In 2015, Marta completed her filmmaking masters degree in Bosnia & Herzegovina at film.factory, the school of the prominent film director Béla Tarr, where she had the chance to meet people from all over the world and learn from outstanding film industry personalities. Her short film DOBRO (2016) was selected for Cinefondátion section at Cannes Film Festival 2016 and participated in over fifty international film festivals. Marta has also worked as co-cinematographer and producer of the feature films LA ASUNCIÓN DE JOSÉ by Colombian director Juan Rocha and I AM GOD, DOGMA I, directed by Jorge Bolado. She is currently co-producing a documentary directed by the Japanese filmmaker Kaori Oda. Her first feature film THE CHAOTIC LIFE OF NADA KADIĆ was awarded the finishing fund “Impulso Morelia” at Morelia International Film Festival and premiered at the Berlinale Forum 2018.
