Agnieszka Polska



Agnieszka Polska (1985, Poland) studied at the Universität der Künste in Berlin and the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. She is the author of many solo shows, including ‘I Am the Mouth in Nottingham’, Contemporary (2014); ‘Pseudowords Hazards’ in Saltzburger Kunstverein (2013); ‘How the Work is Done’ in PinchukArtCentre in Kiev (2012) and ‘Aurorite’ in CCA Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw (2012). She has made several films, including YOU IMAGINE WHAT YOU DESIRE which screened at the 2014 Sydney Bienale; MOM, AM I BARBARIAN? screened at the 2013 Istanbul Bienali; THE BLACK MOON screened at Palais de Tokyo in Paris in 2013; SOUNDWORKS screened at the ICA, London in 2012; EARLY YEARS was shown at the KunstWerke Center for Contemporary Art in Berlin (2010). Polska was one of the twenty artists nominated for the 2012 Future Generation Prize for young artists founded by PinchukArtCentre and was shortlisted for the Junge Filmkunst Prais by the Deutsche Filmakademie. She is represented by Galerie Zak Branicka in Berlin and Galerie Georg Kargl in Vienna. Polska is a winner of the third edition of The Film Award, which was founded by The Polish Film Institute and the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw in cooperation with the Wajda School. The Film Award was set up as a response to a highly topical and original phenomenon in culture; the interest of visual artists in the creation of films for theatrical release. The Film Award is worth 500,000 PLN for the production.
