Biography

Mika Ronkainen (born in Kuusamo, 1970) is a filmmaker who loves vinyl records, black root soup, and refrigerator magnets. He graduated from Oulu Institute of Arts and Design in 1997. His best-known film is FINNISH BLOOD SWEDISH HEART, that was awarded with two Finnish Oscars (Jussi Awards) for Best Documentary and Best Music. His prize-winning and acclaimed documentaries, SCREAMING MEN (2003) and FREETIME MACHOS (2009) have screened at several international film festivals including Sundance, IDFA, Karlovy Vary, Toronto Hot Docs, and Tribeca Film Festival. He was selected for Variety's "Ten European Directors to Watch" in 2013. Mika is the Co-founder of "Air Guitar World Championships".
