Michael Rowe



Michael Rowe (1971, Australia) is an Australian-Mexican writer and director. He first studied English Literature at La Trobe University in Melbourne. After beginning his career as a poet and then playwright, Rowe went on a trip to Mexico, and still lives there today. From 1998 to 2009, while working as a journalist, he also participated in the Vicente Leñero script development workshop. In 2006, he directed his first short film, CACAHUATES, followed by SILENCIO in 2007. In 2010, he directed AÑO BISIESTO, for which he won the Camera d’Or at Cannes that year. Rowe recently finished his second feature film in Spanish, MANTO ACUÍFERO (2012), part of a Mexican trilogy. REST HOME will be the first feature film in English.
