The true human drama and true emotions cannot be created or pretended, never in a documentary film. It should arise from the life itself, and my job is to transform it into a film in a way like it is, more simply and truly - stronger.    


Born in 1973 in Poland. Graduated from the Polish Film Academy in Łódź as a cinematographer in 1996. Among his most well-known films as a director are SIBERIAN LESSON (1998) awarded at Cinéma du Réel Paris, Krakow IFF and IDFA, EL MISIONERO (2000) awarded at Krakow IFF and Lodz Media Festival, MRS NIKIFOR (2004), FOR A WHILE (2005) and YEAR ONE (2010).
In 2011, he received the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement at the 61st Berlinale for his camera work in Paula Markovitch's feature EL PREMIO.
In 2015, his documentary BROTHERS screened at Locarno International Film Festival.
