For me the lines between fiction and documentary are fluid. In my films I often try to direct or control the ‘documentary’ reality by working with formal elements. But it remains ultimately real.
Born in 1980, USA, Teboho grew up mainly in Lesotho, but also in South Africa and Germany. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Cape Town, followed by a two-year post-graduate residency at Le Fresnoy, Studio National des Arts Contemporains in France and then a post-graduate film directing programme at the DFFB film academy in Berlin. His films have been selected for multiple festivals and galleries worldwide; GANGSTER PROJECT (2011) had its world premiere at FID Marseilles in 2011, and screened at the IFF Rotterdam in 2012. Following this, he directed the documentary short GANGSTER BACKSTAGE (2013), which won the main jury prize at the ISFF Oberhausen, and COMING OF AGE (2015), which premiered at Berlinale Generation in 2015. His film DAYS OF CANNIBALISM (2020) was selected at the Berlinale Panorama 2020.
