Biography

She received a BFA in Film & TV from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and an MA from the Media Studies department at the New School University. After almost 15 years living, studying and working in New York, London, and Doha, Qatar, she returned to Turkey in 2011 with Al Jazeera to produce social and political documentaries throughout her country and the region.
Her works include DON'T TELL US FAIRYTALES, a look into the fallout from Turkey's three-decade conflict with its Kurdish population; SCHOOLS ON EDGE, regarding the education of Syrian refugee children; THE FASHION ISSUE, about the thin line between religion and fashion; LAND TIES, on domestic migration in Turkey; and, ANOTHER SPRING IN IRAQ which chronicles the budding economic and social ties between Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan. Since her arrival in Istanbul, she has focused on creating films that trigger dialogue on a range of national and international issues that are either neglected or marginalized.
