I started to write The Science of Fictions in 2013. The story evolved from the idea of a personal history of someone excluded from society and as much as I can, put recognition to the recent issue of post truth, history and technology. We must keep going, to determine our stories and put them on the screen.
Born in Indonesia, 1983, Yosep Anggi Noen studied Politics and Communication. In 2007 he received a fellowship from the Asian Film Academy at the Busan IFF. In 2013 he trained at the Berlin IFF Talents Campus. His first feature film PECULIAR VACATION AND OTHER ILLNESSES (2012) competed at the Locarno FF. He received both the National Award for Best New Director and the award for Best Independent Film from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. His short film A LADY CADDY WHO NEVER SAW A HOLE IN ONE (2013) won the Sonje Award for Best Short Film at the 2013 Busan IFF, and the Grand Prix at the 2014 Short Shorts FF & Asia. SOLO, SOLITUDE (2016) was selected to premiere at Locarno FF (Filmmakers of the Present). His latest feature film THE SCIENCE OF FICTIONS (2019) was selected in Competition at the Locarno FF, where it received a Special Mention & Boccalino d’Oro Award.
