Synopsis

Eighty years ago, the Promulgation of the Fascist Racial Laws was enacted in Italy. The Italian population was suddenly pushed by fascist propaganda into accepting the persecution of the Jewish minority, who had been living in Italy for centuries. Director Giorgio Treves' documentary explores the past to understand how an entire country could be taught to hate and discriminate. By focusing on the subtle mechanisms of social persuasion employed by fascism, Treves both explains and educates on a dark chapter of Italian history that remains relevant to this day.
