Films should be politic not only regarding the content but mainly by how they are made and how they deal with the content.
Born in Bellac, France in 1974, Périot studied visual communication before completing a year-long internship at the Pompidou Centre. He works as a video artist, cinematographer, editor and director and makes film projects using found footage and archive material. The majority of his works are documentary, animation and experimental projects dealing with violence and history. They include 200000 PHANTOMS (2007), OUR DAYS, ABSOLUTELY, HAVE TO BE ENLIGHTENED (2012), LOOKING AT THE DEAD (2012) and LE JOUR A VAINCU LA NUIT (2013). His directorial feature, A GERMAN YOUTH (2015), opened the Panorama section at the Berlinale and was released in France (where it was nominated for the Best Documentary César), Germany and Switzerland; it has been awarded in festivals worldwide. His second feature SUMMER LIGHTS (2016) premiered at the New Directors section of the San Sebastián IFF.
