Perhaps it’s because “The Family Tour” is semi-autobiographical that this intelligently affecting story of exile and displacement is Ying Liang’s most highly polished film to date.
Born in Shanghai in 1977, Ying Liang graduated from the Department of directing at the Chongqing Film Academy. In 2005, he directed Taking Father Home which won the FIPRESCI/NETPAC Award at the Singapore International Film Festival. It is followed by THE OTHER HALF (2006), GOOD CATS (2008) and CONDOLENCES (2009). Ying Liang also works as a screenwriter for feature films including LOVERS IN THE WATER (2011), directed by Chen Fu and Zheng Zheng. In 2008, he became the program director of the Chongqing Independent Film & Video Festival.
