Deciding what the characters are going to do relative to each other in order to express who they are...it’s the most interesting part.

Born in Marseille, the French-Malian Daouda Coulibaly questions the place of West Africa in its relationship to the rest of the world. After exploring themes such as recent history or cultural identity in his short films A HISTORY OF INDEPENDENCE (2009) and TINYE SO (2011), he then began to explore the origins of the crisis in Mali in WULU (2016) his first feature film which was screened at many festivals including Toronto IFF and BFI London FF.
