What I like in documentary film making, is discovering new things either in myself or in others. What I do in my film is looking at social-political issues in my country through my personal stories and my lived experience.

A documentary filmmaker and producer Mina Keshavarz was born in Iran in 1984. She has made several awarded documentary films on social issues which have premiered in IDFA, Thessaloniki, Sheffield, Tribeca, LFF, including PROFESSION: DOCUMENTAIRES (2014), BRAVING THE WAVES (2016) and UNWELCOME IN TEHRAN (2011).

Since she established MinDoc Film Production in Iran in 2013, she has produced and directed two interactive documentaries in co-production with the Netherlands and granted by Netherlands Film Institute. In 2016, she produced BRAVING THE WAVES (2016), a feature length documentary directed by herself and supported by IDFA Bertha Fund, Sorfond, Fritt Ord, which won Best Documentary at the London International Documentary Festival. Mina’s new film THE ART OF LIVING IN DANGER (2020) was supported by the NRW Cinema Fund and HotDocs International CrossCurrent Theatrical Fund. It also received Best Pitch Award at MipDoc 2017 in Cannes and will have its world premiere at the Sheffield Doc/Fest in October 2020.

Mina recently produced FISH EYE (2019) directed by Amin Behroozzadeh which premiered in Visions du Reel 2020. This film won Best Film in Progress Award at Sarajevo FF 2019.

Mina is also an alumni of Berlinale Talents, HotDocs Emerging Docs Accelerator Lab, Nipkow Film Residency, EsoDoc, Close-Up and Tribeca Film Institute, and she recently received a scholarship to study on a Masters program in social documentary at the New York School of Visual Arts.
