    A middle-class couple, Izabelė and Liudas, live in their rural house with their son Gailius, who suffers from epilepsy. One day Izabelė talks her husband into adopting six-year-old Ilja, a headstrong yet withdrawn little boy from a children’s home. With the arrival of the new addition, family life starts to change drastically for all of them…

    Giedre Beinoriute was born in 1976, and graduated from the Film and Television Department at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2002. She has directed and written eight short films, both fiction and documentary, which were well received both nationally and internationally. Her latest documentary CONVERSATIONS ON SERIOUS TOPICS (2012) was Lithuania‘s Official Oscar Entry for Best Foreign Language Film in 2013. BREATHING INTO MARBLE (2018) is Giedre’s first feature film. Giedre Beinoriute has taught scriptwriting and film directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre since 2007. She has also been a PhD student in Art Doctoral Studies since 2014, with her artistic research project ‘Depicting Children in Cinema: A Director’s Approach’.
