The Vinet farm employs twelve seasonal workers this year, including Willy. Of Mexican origin, Willy has just arrived in Quebec to work on the farm, of course, but mostly to find Marlena - the love of his life - whom he suspects is in Montreal. Lovers in their former lives, they were separated shortly before the dismantling of a cartel in Mexico. As friendships form between the seasonal workers, the atmosphere on the farm is very pleasant. But Julie Vinet - the owner - falls for Willy and this upsets the balance on the farm. Léa, the Vinet's daughter, tries to escape from a future in agriculture at all costs. Unfortunately, she makes very bad choices and ends up in a bad circle. Everything will change on the Vinet farm, and the confrontation of several worlds will not be without splashes...

Lush visuals and melancholy mix of longing, hope and heroic determination...aimed at incurable romantics. Yet Grbovic’s love story also comes with an appealing counterpoint of social commentary.

Who cares about three act narratives? I want to wander, I want my gaze on this world to wander.

Ivan Grbovic was born in Montreal in 1979 to Serbian parents. After a Masters in Cinematography at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles he started his career as a DOP shooting music videos and commercials, but always had his eye on directing. He first made the jump with music videos and three short films that were well received in the festival circuit. Ivan’s first commercial break directing Rona’s Olympic films in 2010 caught the industry’s eye and he has since been putting his mix of epic, big scale filmmaking and witty humor to work for brands such as Canal +, Ubisoft or Burger King. His latest work is the film DRUNKEN BIRDS (2021), selected at Toronto IFF 2021 and Canada’s official submission to the 94th Academy Awards.
