Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot were gunned down by suspected Khalistani militants on March 8, 1988 in Mehsampur. As a result, many conspiracy theories over Chamkila’s killing were circulated but their death remains a mystery that will never be solved. Armed with a handycam, a filmmaker goes about his task to search for the truth about Chamkila, unmindful of the emotional debris he unleashes along the way.

Chowdhry is a new and exciting talent, and Mehsampur is confounding and confusing, bold and vigorous, a film for film goers to puzzle over, and in this case, that's a good thing.

    J Hurtado, Screen Anarchy

As the film embarks on a stylistically surreal journey it is easy to see why Chowdhry says his cinematic influences include surrealists such as David Lynch, in addition to Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Stanley Kubrick and Swedish director Roy Andersson.
