Bruno Collet was born in 1965 in Saint-Brieuc, France. After receiving his degree at the Fine Arts Academy at Rennes, he worked on sculpture and 3D objects exhibitions. His interest in animation developed while he worked for short films and video clips as a decorator. LE DOS AU MUR, his first animation short was produced in 2001 and awarded in International Critic’s Week in Cannes. His stop-motion animation short CALYPSO IS LIKE SO (2003), features a Robert Mitchum puppet running amok on an desert movie set. Collet's work pays tribute to the world of classic movies and includes numerous homages and in-joke references to iconic cinema scenes and characters. Employing sight gags, slapstick and a touch of macabre humour, the R.I.P. shorts, reflect his unique andexhilarating animation technical. After two series, La Tête dans le guidon (2005) and La Tête dans les flocons (2007). Collet’s short THE DAY OF GLORY (2007) deals with the first world war. In this stop motion animated film, the bodies of the soldiers become again matter, alloy of earth and steel, curdled in death for eternity. THE LITTLE DRAGON (2009), from the Animator’s Studio collection, is a living homage to Bruce Lee. His latest short MEMORABLE (2019) won the Cristal for Best Short Film at Annecy IAFF and the Junior Jury Prize.
