In spite of her new role as a mother, a young woman still wants to hang out with her friends and invites them home for a party. In a beautiful, non-moralising film, the unsuitable environment is contrasted with the love between mother and daughter.

Sometimes the things you don’t say or see are more effective and interesting than what's right in front of you.
Milad Alami was born in Iran, raised in Sweden and now lives in Denmark. He graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2011. His shorts have been selected for numerous festivals, including Cannes (Directors’ Fortnight), New York, Clermont Ferrand and Karlovy Vary. The last of them, Mommy (2015), won the Danish Academy Award for Best Short Film. THE CHARMER, his first feature, opened the New Directors section in San Sebastian International Film Festival 2017 and was praised in Variety as "an accomplished, deceptively titled debut feature”.
