    Documentary director and radio journalist Markku Heikkinen was born and raised in Kainuu. He is MA in Cinema. He’s been freelancer radio journalist since 1986 and he’s been directing documentary films and shows since 1993. Heikkinen’s documentary MEN OF TALVIVAARA MINE premiered at DocPoint Film Festival. The film not only shows the visually breathtaking size of the mining operation, but contrasts this with the human scale of the tragedy. The result is both aesthetic and emotional. In 2015, Heikkinen documentary film BURIED ALIVE screened at Helsinki IFF Love & Anarchy.
