Three stories that intertwine during the patron saint’s celebration in, a village of the Mixtec Oaxaca. Esteban returns after three years to discover that Chabela, his wife, is living with another man; enraged he calls the village people to prosecute her in an assembly. Toña relives her own pain in the face of the abuse of her daughter when she returns to confront her family to protect her.

A look at a small Mexican town that shows its dark side, that which might need to be swept clean in order to move forward.
Ángeles Cruz is a Mexican actress, film director and screenwriter. She won the Colón de Plata award for Best Actress in TAMARA Y LA CATARINA (2016, dir. Lucía Carreras) at the Festival Iberoamericano de Huelva and was nominated for the Ariel Awards 2018. She was also nominated at the Guldbaggen Awards for Best Actress in LA HIJA DEL PUMA (1994, dir. Ulf Hulberg). Her shortfilm LA TRICIA O CÓMO CURAR LA TRISTEZA (2012) marks her promising debut as director and screenwriter with which she won the Ariel award for Best Short film in 2013, the Palmita award at Tour de Cine Francés, the Diosa de Plata and the Género Prize at Lambayaque Perú, special mentions in Huelva, etc. In 2013 she directed and wrote the screenplay for the shortfilm LA CARTA which was selected at the Ariel Awards 2015 and won the Public Choice Prize at Cologne and Los Angeles. Her third shortfilm ARCÁNGEL was selected at the Cine de Morelia International Festival’s 16th edition. Her latest work is the feature length film NUDO MIXTECO (2021).
