I’ve always been drawn to romantic or impressionist painting. I like to think of my films as paintings of feelings, to combine landscapes and characters. In all of my films, I like to tell myself that the landscapes feel the same things as the characters.
Emilie Aussel was born in 1980 in Montpellier. She lives in Paris and Marseille. She graduated from Les Beaux-Arts in Montpellier in 2001 and from Villa Arson in Nice in 2003. Then she studied at Le Fresnoy, Studio national des arts contemporains in Tourcoing in 2006. She makes videos and movies which are screened in various festivals in France and abroad. She also makes some choreographic, theatrical and musical creations and some video installations for the stage. Her latest work is the film OUR ETERNAL SUMMER (2021) which was selected at Locarno FF 2021 and won a Special Jury Prize there.
