Ekoué Labitey met Mohamed Hamé Bourokba at university in 1994. Three years later, they started the rap group La Rumeur. They became the voice of the plight of the banlieue and of the children of France’s post-colonial immigration history. In just a few years they gained respect and recognition as one of the most important components of the French hip hop scene. Their first LP, L’ombre sur la mésure, was released in 2002 and quickly became a genre classic.

PARIS PRESTIGE (2016) is Labitey directorial debut, which he wrote and directed with Ekoué.
