Synopsis

The documentary film portrays the Egyptian puppeteer and activist Rania Refaat. With her theatre group "Pergola" in Cairo, she makes a courageous contribution to strengthening women's rights and expanding social awareness of oppression and abuse of power. During the film, we also accompany Rania to Berlin, where she gives a workshop for refugee Syrian women in which they artistically process their experiences with flight and culture shock. RANIA'S DREAM is the portrait of a strong woman who swims against the tide in politically charged times and risks a lot in the process.
