    Documentary

A young Bulgarian woman observes the global resurgence of leftist ideology while her country still suffers from its consequences . In a semi-mystic dialogue with her late granddad she traces his transformation from a priest to a communist, then a militant anti-communist. The granddaughter is fed up with the hypocrisy of modern Bulgarian socialists who continuously advocate the introduction of a socialist welfare system while leading her country to ruin for the past 25 years.

After facing the public prosecutor in Bulgaria over alleged controversy surrounding our first feature documentary “Uncle Tony, Three Fools and the Secret Service” I’ve realised that cinema with all its magic and impact on the senses could actually create a splash in certain dreamy societies.

Mina Mileva directed animated shorts and did a lot of commercial work in the British animation industry. In recent years together with Vesela Kazakova they produced and directed political documentaries that stirred national controversy and gained them the nickname “The Demonic Duo”. CAT IN THE WALL (2019) is their first fiction film opening at Locarno’s international competition in 2019 and listed as number one among 11 breakthrough films from summer festivals by Screen International.
