    Ze is a dockworker in Lisbon. He watches enviously the ships he will never board. He dreams of leaving his wife and the slum. He has been saving money in secret to travel to Sweden. But one night he gets home to discover that his wife found his savings and spent them on a new washing machine.

    Swiss of portuguese origin born in 1985, Basil da Cunha joins the Cinema Department at the Geneva University of Art and Design in 2007. In 2011 and 2012, his short films SUNFISH and THE LIVING ALSO CRY are selected by the Cannes IFF Director’s Fortnight where THE LIVING ALSO CRY received a Special Mention from the Illy Jury. ATE VER A LUZ is his first feature film. O FIM DO MONDO (2019) was selected in the Concorso internazionale section at Locarno FF.
