    In 1950s America, an introverted young man joins a renowned lobotomist as he promotes his recently debunked procedure. As their tour of asylums progresses, the young man begins to identify with the patients, among them the daughter of a charismatic leader in the burgeoning New Age movement of the West.

    RICK ALVERSON (1971) is a filmmaker living in Richmond, Virginia. His dramatic feature THE COMEDY (2012), a tale of the perils of entitlement set in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, premiered in competition at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and was subsequently released by Tribeca Film. His first feature, THE BUILDER (2010), an existential character study of an Irish immigrant at odds with the promise of America, was released by the renowned independent record label "Jagjaguwar". NEW JERUSALEM (2011), his second feature, starring Colm O'leary and Will Oldham, again considered the immigrant experience but this time through the lens of religious ideology. NEW JERUSALEM premiered at the 40th International Film Festival Rotterdam and SXSW in 2011. That same year he was awarded a Visual Arts Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. More recently, he was awarded at Locarno Film Festival 2015 for his feature ENTERTAINMENT.
