Lucho knows who he is. It’s the others who seem mixed up, inspecting him closely, addressing him as a girl and pestering him with questions. The time spent with his dad during a beach holiday draws attention to the process of transition that Lucho is experiencing. Struggling with his own insecurities, Lucho’s father tries hard to keep their close bond intact, while young Lucho attempts to come to terms with the development of a body going through puberty.

- MARTINA MATZKIN
Martina Matzkin was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1987. She studied cinema and a postgraduate course in documentary at Universidad de Buenos Aires. In 2018, she was selected to participate in Talents Buenos Aires (organized by Berlinale Talents and Universidad del cine). Her first two short films were screened at many festivals. Her third short film, THE NAME OF THE SON, won funds from the Argentinian Film Institute and the Argentinian National Arts Fund, and had its world premiere at Generation K-plus section at the 70th Berlinale, were it was awarded with the Crystal Bear for the Best Short Film and with the special prize of the International Jury for the Best Short Film. She is currently filming her first feature film as a director, THE CARETAKER (winner of the development contest of the Argentinian Film Institute and selected at Doc Corner of Marché du Film on Cannes Festival) and developing a second one, TRIS, THE END OF CHILDHOOD, both co-directed with Gabriela Uassouf.
