    Mikko Myllylahti

    Finland

Born in the north of Finland, Mikko is a poet and a filmmaker. After graduating in 2012 from the ELO Helsinki Film School, he directed several short films screened in festivals such as Locarno, Tampere and Helsinki. He wrote Juho Kuosmanen’s first feature, The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki, selected in 2016 for Un Certain Regard. He came back to Cannes as a director with his short film THE TIGER, which was competing at La Semaine de la Critique in 2018. His stylistic tone is surprising, blending what is odd and unusual with definite dramatic gravitas. Mikko Myllylathi presented his debut feature project at Next Step 2018, THE WOODCUTTER STORY, produced by Aamu Film Company. The WOODCUTTER STORY was previously developed at Torino Film Lab 2018 where it received the Production Award.
