I work as a free-lance programmer for an IT corporation. Nobody there knows that I direct films. The script writer teaches music in a secondary school. The editor serves Big Macs in Barcelona city center. Diego, the main character of ‘Timecode’, seems to be only a typical security guard.

A unique piece of work (and something of a surprise winner at Cannes).
It makes the mathematical poetry of the musical stand out.
There are days that I feel out of sync and anguished, and the only thing that connects me with the world is that small but stubborn idea for a possible new film. Something that will end up being a movie eventually, but that I have not shared with anyone yet.
Juanjo Giménez was born in Barcelona. His last short film, TIMECODE (2016) won the Palm d’Or at Cannes, the 2017 European Film Award for Best Short Film, and the Goya in the same category, as well as being nominated for the Academy Award for Best Short Film. In all, it has won more than 100 awards at film festivals the world over. Giménez has also directed the feature film NOS HACEMOS FALTA (TILT 2003), which premiered at the IFF Rotterdam; and two documentaries, CONTACT PROOF (2014) and ESQUIVAR I PEGAR (2010), as well as several other awarded short films. His latest film is OUT OF SYNC (2021), selected at Giornati degli Autori, Toronto IFF, and Sitges FF, where it won the Best Film award.
