    Director's Statement

In VACUUM, which is based on authentic events, I wanted to explore what remains when a special intimacy is no longer sufficient. What are the proportions of love or obligations that drive these two people not to simply throw away a carefully constructed life? Even if the drama takes place in a middle-class environment, traditional role patterns are so in vogue with young generations nowadays that Meredith’s struggles to question her suddenly capsized world order, extend far beyond it. Just like the burning question which transcends all class boundaries: how good was the good and can we hold onto it, or does it merely decay when trust is lost?
