Two boys from different worlds. Of all possible times, the start of summer vacation is when 10-year-old Jona has to move away from Berlin to the German-Czech border with his mother and new stepfather. He's lonely and angry as he inspects his new surroundings. Across the border, he meets Miro, a 13-year-old Ukrainian boy. Jona is fascinated by the confident but taciturn boy, only slowly discovering the fate that's hidden behind Miro's grown-up façade.

An intriguing, quietly observed rite of passage drama.
Ann-Kristin Reyels was born in 1976 in Leipzig, Germany. She worked as a research and production assistant to Heinrich Breloers on his award-winning TV feature The Manns (2001), as well as second camera assistant to Peter von Haller. Her own works include the short Raumpflege (1999), the documentary Tatjana (2002), DIM (2004) - a short film in cooperation with Paul Schwarz. From 2001 to 2007 she studied at the Academy of Film and Television Konrad Wolf in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany, and graduated with her much acclaimed film Jagdhunde (2007). This feature won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2007 Berlinale, as well as other awards. Since then Reyels has worked, among other positions, as artistic associate at the HFF in Potsdam Babelsberg and is currently preparing her second feature Formentera.
